An editable end of term assembly with a focus on being grateful and thankful. Many more slides here than you see on the preview! The narrative follows three children and how their lives have changed due to circumstances beyond their control. It lasts about 15-20 minutes if clip is watched too. The assembly emphasises the value of education and how lucky the students are to live in a country with free access to school. It challenges them to think about others less fortunate throughout their break and to come back refreshed but also appreciating how lucky they are. For the Gatsby Benchmark Careers Guidelines. 1-2 hour fully resourced careers lesson. Firstly, students will investigate what employability skills are. They will then take stock of the employability skills they already have by examining the skills they have developed through their time at school. They then focus on the skills they want to develop further, according to their prospective lines of employment. The lesson sees students complete a skills audit, team group activities, individual tasks, clip tasks and and is perfect for a PSHE / Citizenship careers unit. An assembly all about the impact that random acts of kindness can have. It explores why we need to be kind to each other, the effect small acts can have on our family, friends and the wider communities and in turn our own emotional wellbeing. The assembly lasts around 20 minutes, including a short clip. As part of the assembly you will need to place three Post-Its randomly where the children will sit. You will be calling those three students who sit on a Post-It up to give them a small gift (perhaps a tube of Smarties).You will then ask them questions about how they feel - this is to show the impact of an act of kindness when people aren’t expecting it (which scientists have shown to have more impact than if they are). The assembly is very easy to follow (and has additional teacher notes in the slide-notes of the PowerPoint). It is also editable. Vaping - what is it and why is it so dangerous? In this lesson, the students will revisit their previous knowledge of smoking and vaping, as we delve deeper into the issue of underage vaping, its health risks and the wider environmental impact. The lesson will look at the history of vaping and it’s role in driving down the use of tobacco, before discussing the growing trend of vaping amongst young people. We will be reminded of our fundamental British values, with respect to the rule of law and democracy as we evaluate the effectiveness of our current laws and create a campaign to lobby the government for stricter regulations. The lesson is both challenging and mature and has been created with a view to being used with students in Year 6, however, the resources are also suitable for use in LKS3 (Years 7 or 8).
